A Bridge Between Operational Experience and Strategic Need
The Allied Americas Defense Institute (AADI) was founded on a straightforward conviction: the most durable contributions to national security come not from abstraction, but from the hard-won lessons of operational reality. AADI was established to make those lessons available, in structured, professional form, to the institutions that need them most.
AADI is based in Central Florida, within the same state as U.S. Southern Command (SOUTHCOM), the combatant command responsible for all U.S. military activities in Latin America and the Caribbean. This positioning places AADI within the institutional ecosystem of U.S. defense policy and hemispheric security operations.
"AADI's advisors bring irreplaceable operational experience from environments where U.S. national security interests are directly engaged, knowledge no purely domestic source can replicate."
Founded by a retired Colombian National Army specialist with more than twenty years of front-line service, AADI translates documented military excellence into advisory services for government agencies, academic institutions, law enforcement, and the private security industry. Our work sits at the intersection of practitioner knowledge, policy research, and professional education.
Operational Credibility
Every advisory service is grounded in two decades of real command experience, not theory. Our credentials are documented, decorated, and verified.
Hemispheric Perspective
Deep fluency in U.S.-Latin America security cooperation, bilateral doctrine, and the geopolitical dynamics shaping the Western Hemisphere.
Academic Rigor
AADI's founder was trained under U.S.-co-developed military doctrine, forming professional expertise at the intersection of Colombian and U.S. Army leadership frameworks. Our work meets the standards expected by academic and policy institutions.
Institutional Integrity
Zero disciplinary sanctions across an entire military career. Our advisory work carries the same standard of conduct that defined more than twenty years of service.
Strategic Alignment
AADI's location and programs are aligned with U.S. Southern Command priorities and the documented national interest in hemispheric stability and security cooperation.
Guided by Purpose. Grounded in Experience.
AADI's institutional direction reflects the conviction that the most durable contributions to national security come not from abstraction, but from decades of hard-won operational reality.
Strengthening U.S. National Security Through Specialized Advisory
To strengthen U.S. national security interests by providing specialized advisory services in military doctrine, strategic thinking, and operational security informed by decades of real-world experience in allied armed forces operating under U.S.-co-developed doctrine.
AADI achieves this mission by translating irreplaceable practitioner knowledge into structured advisory programs, academic partnerships, and professional training curricula that serve government agencies, universities, law enforcement, and the private sector.
The Premier Bridge Between Allied Military Knowledge and U.S. Institutions
To become the premier professional institute bridging U.S. security institutions with the operational knowledge of allied military professionals from the Americas, advancing hemispheric defense cooperation and interoperability.
We envision a Western Hemisphere in which U.S. security institutions, academic centers, and private sector organizations can access the full depth of allied military expertise — not as a historical record, but as a living advisory resource continuously engaged with contemporary security challenges.
Why Florida — and Why It Matters
AADI's choice of Florida as its operational base reflects a deliberate strategic decision grounded in the institute's mission to serve U.S. hemispheric security stakeholders. Based in Central Florida, AADI operates within the same state as U.S. Southern Command (SOUTHCOM), the combatant command responsible for all U.S. military activities across Latin America and the Caribbean.
Florida is the institutional center of U.S. engagement with the Western Hemisphere. Its universities, defense contractors, government agencies, law enforcement institutions, and private security sector represent the primary domestic audience for the advisory, research, and training services AADI is positioned to deliver.
This positioning places AADI within reach of the academic programs, policy institutions, and security professional networks that operate at the intersection of U.S. and Latin American defense interests — without requiring the organizational overhead of a Washington presence.
U.S. Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) is headquartered in Doral, Florida and is responsible for contingency planning, operations, and security cooperation across Central and South America, the Caribbean, Cuba, and other territories — making Florida the operational center of U.S. hemispheric defense engagement.
Same State as SOUTHCOM
Florida-based operations place AADI within the same institutional ecosystem as SOUTHCOM headquarters in Doral — the primary U.S. combatant command for Latin America and the Caribbean.
Academic Institutions
Access to Florida's network of universities with international security, Latin American studies, and defense policy research programs, including institutions in the Orlando and Central Florida area.
Government and Contractor Network
Florida hosts a significant concentration of defense contractors, law enforcement agencies, and private security firms with active operations in Latin American environments.
Hemispheric Connectivity
Florida serves as the primary U.S. gateway to Latin America for commerce, diplomacy, and diaspora communities, positioning AADI at the center of regional engagement without requiring international operations.
